Coaching Staff
Head Coach Jeff Armstrong
Coach Jeff arrived in Evergreen in August 2007, prior to coming to Colorado, Jeff spent two years as Senior Assistant Coach with Brophy East Swim Team (BEST) in Phoenix, AZ. Prior to BEST, he was the Head Age Group Coach of Williamsburg Aquatic Club (WAC) in Virginia, head Age Group Coach at Tiger Aquatics in Stockton, California and an Assistant Coach with Pacific University (UOP). He has been involved in AAU and USA swimming for the past 32 years, both as a competitor and a coach.
Coach Jeff brings a great deal of energy and enthusiasm to the Hurricanes - come to practice and check it out!

Assistant Coach Nathan Guy
Coach Nathan joined the Hurricanes coaching staff in September 2009. Nathan brings experience as an assistant swim coach at Thurston High School in Springfield, Oregon, as well as coach of the Penguins and Orcas swim teams in Grass Valley, California. He holds a bachelor of Science from the University of Puget Sound, where he swam on the varsity and nationals swim team.

Assistant Coach Julia Purrington
Coach Julia lives in Conifer and this will be her third year coaching the Hurricanes. In addition, she has been head coach at Mount Vernon Country Club for two past summers, and has lead the Evergreen Rec Center Adult Masters program for two years. She is a competitive triathlete as well as a certified triathlon and endurance coach. As a triathlon coach, she has helped several of her masters athletes qualify for Age Group Nationals and a few of those (including herself) went on to qualify for Age Group World Championships. Coach Julia was a competitive age group and high school swimmer for 12 years before taking some time off then turning to triathlons 3 years ago. As a mom of 2 little boys, Julia is enjoys working with kids.

Assistant Coach Paul Sheldon
Coach Paul joined the Hurricanes coaching staff in September 2009. This past summer, he worked with Coach Julia as assistant coach of the Mount Vernon Country Club Makos swim team. Paul swam competitively for 12 years on a USS team and during high school, placing in the top 8 in Florida. Paul coached his former age-group team for four years, leading a team of swimmers aged 9-14 to the Florida Gold Coast Junior Olympics. He continues to compete in US Masters-sponsored events. In addition to swimming, Paul enjoys skiing, rafting, riding, and hiking.
