Schedule Changes, Hurricane Wear, Polar Plunge, Social Media Advocates

Brian Pursley
Hello Hurricane Families,

The other coaches and I are very excited to see everyone come together in Loveland this weekend. With over 50 athletes competing, we are going to be a force on the pool deck!

With those kinds of numbers we'll have a uniquely potent opportunity to bring tons of energy, team spirit, and determination to race our best. Please come ready to ride that wave!

Coach Jordan has done a great job of keeping everyone in the know with this weekend’s details, so there are just a few more unrelated items to put on your radar this week:

Upcoming Schedule Changes (Updated 12/15)
  • Monday, December 19th: Category 1 practice is on, Category 2-5 & Surge practices are cancelled (due to excellent meet participation!)
  • December 24-26: All practices are cancelled for Christmas
  • Friday, 1/6: All evening practices cancelled for a high school swim meet at Wulf

Friday Hurricane Wear

Please wear your Hurricane’s gear to school on Friday. This is a great way to show team spirit to get ready to compete and a great way to promote our team. Moving forward, we’ll be making a habit of asking athletes to wear their Hurricane’s gear to school on a regular basis.

Polar Plunge

The New Year’s Day Polar Plunge at Evergreen Lake is coming up and who better than us to make a good showing!

Last year 177 people of all ages made the leap into the freezing lake. I bet we can could have the biggest group there, help a good cause, and spread a lot of Hurricane’s goodwill. Everyone is going to be super jealous of our parkas!

Registration for the event is  here. Next time you drive by the lake, take a good look and consider whether you are up for it!

Recruiting Social Media Advocates

Along the same lines of fostering community and team spirit while promoting our team in the community, we are looking for a group of social media savvy parents to help us out. We will be looking to them to foster an online community and local social media presence for the Hurricanes. Much like the group ambassador program, this is something we would like to put in the hands of enthusiastic advocates with their own ideas and sense of opportunity. If this sounds like something you would be interested in or have ideas about, please reach out to me to discuss.

Thanks to everyone for all your enthusiasm and support! Go Hurricanes!
