Summer Practice Schedule Now Posted

  • The summer practice schedule is now posted on our website, and you can view it directly here.
  • The Winter practice schedule will be in effect through Saturday, May 27th
  • The Summer practice schedule will begin on Tuesday, May 30th.

Category 1 will continue to have the opportunity for Kickstarts all summer long, thanks in part to some extra help from Maryn McNeely, the newest member of our coaching staff! Maryn is an awesome high school senior with years of experience as a Hurricane athlete and swim lesson instructor. You'll also see her helping out throughout our program in other ways as well. Thank you Maryn!

The upcoming summer schedule represents a major change in training philosophy for our Surge and Cat 5 athletes. Moving forward we'll be spending less time in the water, and more time improving general fitness, strength, and athletic ability through a tailored program in the gym. This change will require a lot of new skills and habits that will take each athlete time to learn and adopt. As our swimmers become more knowledgeable and capable on land, Coach Jordan and I are very excited about the prospects of achieving a new level of athleticism in the water.

The Category 4 program will remain centered on pool workouts as it is now, but will still share a number of workouts each week with the other senior groups. I love the way all of our senior athletes operate as one team. Preserving that dynamic is critical to any future schedule!

 

Spring and Summer Meet Schedule Now Posted

The Spring and Summer meet schedule has been on the website for a few weeks now, but has been through a few updates since its original posting. Please check back to make sure you've seen the final version available now. 

 

Spring Break

All regularly scheduled practices are cancelled Monday, March 20th - Tuesday, March 28th for spring break. An alternative schedule will be provided to athletes competing at the Sectional Championships in Austin, TX. Their schedule is TBD.

 

Basecamp

Please save the dates!

We've reduced our Spring Basecamp to 3 Sundays: April 23rd, April 30th, and May 7th. All athletes currently in Cat 3-5 and Surge are invited to participate. Please mark your calendar for each of those days, early morning through lunch time.

We'll be training long course for two hours at Carmody Pool, then for 90 minutes at Conifer Crossfit immediately following a short classroom session. Although this will be a condensed version of the Fall Basecamp, we'll have the same goals of achieving: 

  • A huge leap forward in fitness to kick off our summer season
  • An introduction to new skills and a raised bar for the conduct and habits of an athlete
  • A fresh team building opportunity to become better teammates, closer than ever.

We're working to keep the additional costs as low as possible, and final details will be out shortly.
