NJ Kickoff Meet Details

Jordan Kuper

Our first meet of the season is this Saturday in Arvada.  The pool address is 7900 Carr Dr, Arvada, CO, 80005.

When the host club (North Jeffco Swim Team) imported all team entries, they found that the Senior/PM session was only set to be an hour long.  They posed a vote to attending teams to combine the two sessions into one that runs through the morning.  The vote was a sweeping yes, so all age groups will be competing in the morning.  I sent an email out last night to the Senior Hurricanes addressing this.

So now the meet is finalized and set in place with all of the usual details.  As there are new families on the team this year, I am going to be a bit more precise in delivering these details.

Warm-ups:  All Hurricane swimmers will warm up from 8:00-8:30am.  Warm ups are mandatory.  Please arrive at Meyers Pool by 7:45 so that we are ready to get in the water the moment the clock strikes 8:00am.  We will communicate what lanes we will be swimming in once we are all on deck!

The meet will start at 8:40am.

The most important documents for the meet have been posted on our website.  These are the Heat Sheet and the Timeline.  To locate, go to our website, click on Event Calendar, and click on the name of the meet "NJ Kickoff".  Scroll down a littley bit to see all of the attached documents.  The Heat Sheet will have your swimmer's heats and lanes and event numbers.  The timeline document will show the approximate time your swimmer's event is set to begin.  These times are when the 1st heat of the event are set to begin.  Adjust accordingly for your swimmer's actual heat number.  Your swimmer's events can be found in the Entry Report document found in the same place.  This document is sorted by swimmer names so that you do not have to thumb through the whole heat sheet looking for your kid's name.  You can use all three of these documents together to get all the necessary information you need about each swim.

There is a new pool build happening in the old parking lot seasoned Hurricanes are familiar with.  You will quickly see that there is no more parking in that area whatsoever.  There is a Parking Map document uploaded in the same place you can find all other documents.

Seating indoors will be tight.  The back deck and side doors will be open so we encourage anyone who wants to sit outside on the expectedly beautiful day to do so.

As a reminder, especially to new parents to USA Swimming, there are NO PARENTS allowed behind the blocks, and DEFINITELY no cell phone recording from behind the blocks.  Failure to adhere to this rule will get you removed from the pool deck immediately.

We're going to have a great meet this Saturday to start off our competition season!  If you have any questions, please reach out.  Once we are all on deck and the meet has started, our attention will be on the swimmers.

Thanks and see you Saturday-
