COSA Meet Details and Upcoming Practice Changes

 

Several things to announce in this email- most of which pertain to the COSA Meet this weekend!  Please see each section below:

 

UPCOMING PRACTICE CHANGES:

With the meet this weekend, there will be No Practice for All Groups on Saturday, October 12 and Monday, October 14.  For tomorrow (Friday), Cats 1, 2, and 3 will have regular practice schedule, but Senior 1 and Senior 2 will practice from 4:30-6:00pm (15 minutes shorter than normal).

 

MI SPORTS TEAM STORE LINK:

I emailed out last week that the team store for equipment and other items through MI Sports is now available.  We have set up two different links on our website to access.  The first can be found under the "Athletes" tab and then click Team Store.  The second is at the bottom of the homepage.  You will see an MI Sports icon, and if you click that, it will take you to the team store as well.

 

APPAREL PICK UP:

The apparel orders from Denver Athletic that were placed between Sept 6-16 are now ready for pick up over by the coaches corner of Wulf Pool.  Feel free to come over and find your order.  Each order is separated by family in individual bags.  If you ordered a large number of items, be sure to look out for more than one bag with your info on it!

 

COSA MEET DETAILS:

I know this is getting sent out later than normal, but we were waiting on the host club to send us warm-up assignments and timing assignments, both of which we received this afternoon.  

 

All  Heat Sheets and  timeline of events have been posted on our website under the Event name on the Events Calendar.  Please print at home!

 

Location:  Pine Creek High School 10750 Thunder Mountain Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80908.

 

Friday PM Session:

Doors to facility open at 4:30pm, warm-ups from 5:00-5:30, meet starts at 5:40pm

 

Saturday AM Session (12&Under swimmers):

Doors to facility open at 7:00am 

Warm-ups from 8:05-8:30am in Lanes 6-7

Meet starts at 8:40am

 

Saturday PM Session (13&Over swimmers):

Warm-ups from 1:20-1:45pm in Lanes 6-7

Meet starts at 1:50pm

 

 

Sunday PM Session (13&Over swimmers)

Warm-ups from 1:35-2:00pm in Lanes 5-6

Meet starts at 2:10pm

 

We also have timing assignments for this meet.  Minimal coverage, but we have divided our session coverage into two shifts.  The link to register for timing is  HERE.

Please help us fill these slots before the meet begins!

 

We will need:

Saturday AM -1 timer each shift in Lane 5 (2 total)

Saturday PM - 2 timers each shift in Lane 6 (4 total)

Sunday AM - 2 timers each shift in Lane 6 (4 total)

Sunday PM - 2 timers each shift in Lane 6 (4 total)

 

 

There will have a coffee truck on sight each morning for families to order their morning coffee from. No concessions will be sold on site. PCHS pool has a large bleacher area along with deck space. There is also space outside where families can sit and set up pop-up tents. Parents (unless volunteering) will be restricted to the bleacher side of the pool only - no parents will be allowed behind the blocks, shallow end, or window side of the pool. Camp chairs are allowed on the pool deck. There are restrooms the pool deck for spectators, all locker rooms will be restricted to athletes only.

 

All distance events are positive check in and swimmers will have to provide their own timer - 2 timers are preferred, but one is acceptable. Lap counters will be available. All 1650’s will be swum fastest to slow. The 1650, 11 & over 400 IM, and the 13 & over 500 will be swum as mixed but scored as girls and boys.

High point awards will be given out at the end of the sessions on Sunday. 11 & 12 awards will be given out during the afternoon session after the completion and scoring of the 200 backstrokes.

 

Lastly, we will have a small, optional get together Saturday night after the PM meet session at "The Main Event" located at 1180 Interquest Parkway, Colorado Springs, CO, 80921.  This place has bowling, arcade games, lazer tag, food and beverage.  This is a "come if you want" type of gathering as not all families are doing the hotel thing this weekend.  But there will definitely be a Hurricanes presense there that evening.  Coordinate times with fellow Hurricanes and have a great Saturday night while down in the Springs!  The PM Session of the meet is over at about 5:30pm on Saturday, so most families can plan on a 6:00-8:00ish gathering time!
