Mock Meet registration, Home Meet volunteers needed!

Jordan Kuper
Just a quick update here about everything we have going on leading into our home meet this weekend!

Open Volunteer Slots:

The turn out of parent volunteers has been simply amazing so far!   Hosting a two day meet comes with a big ask for parents to take on certain roles, and many of them were filled within 48 hours of the first posting!  THANK YOU!!  We do have several vacant spots still, that we MUST fill before Friday.  Particularly, the Back-up timers, Head Timers, and Safety Marshalls.  There are several other positions open for choosing, but there seems to be some apprehension about these three roles in particular.

The Back-up and Head timers are no more stressful than a regular timing position, you are just on the sides of the pool starting watches with the starter flash and if someones watch didn't start, you walk over to that rimer and trade out your running watch for theirs that didn't start.  Any heat that gets underway with all lanes watches working properly pretty means you get to relax through that heat.  Its super simple, but completely necessary!

The safety marshalls are required to be on deck during any USA swimming meet.  These folks where the bright vests and just monitor/enforce no cell phone picture taking behind blocks (with ample signage stating so everywhere anyways) and directing parents to the lobby restrooms instead of the locker rooms which are swimmers only.

We also need an announcer for both days.  We can guide you through what needs to be announced and when!

The link to the sign up genius is  HERE.  If you haven't done so yet, please go in and choose a spot that you can help us with!

MOCK MEET this Friday, January 31:

We are going to run a Mock Meet this Friday from 4:30-6:30pm for all groups to attend.  This will be in place of the regular practice schedule.  By doing this, we will get to set up all of our meet equipment for the home meet the next two days and test everything out!  Following our Mock Meet protocol from the Fall, we would like to run this as close to an actual meet as possible (creating heat sheets, utilizing scoreboard, etc) so we ask that  anyone who plans to attend the Mock Meet this Friday to register for it before Thursday at midnight!  The meet can be found on our event calendar just like any other meet and registration for it is the same as a regular meet as well.  Just declare YES on attending and thats it.  Thank you!

I'll be sending out another follow up email Thursday with our timelines and heat sheets for the Home Meet over the weekend, along with one final check-in on those volunteer spots!
