Mile High Champs Meet Details

Jordan Kuper
Final details for this weekend's Mile High Champs have arrived!

First thing's first:  We have 13 of the 26 timing shifts signed up for!  We need everyone attending the prelims or finals sessions to sign up for a shift!  please click  HERE to grab one!  (Parents attending only the 8&Under session on Saturday do not need to claim a timing shift as we have none during that session.)  Come Friday morning, I will assign the open shifts to families who have not yet signed up for a shift and send an email notifying you of the shift you are responsible for!

How The Meet Works:

Go to our website and under the Athletes Tab, click on the event calendar.  Click on the event name Mile High Champs and scroll down to see all of the attached documents.  There you will find the  entry report.  Find your swimmer's name to see the events they have been entered in.  Ignore the relay event numbers for now- that will be discussed later down this email.

*All Friday events are timed final, meaning they are only swum once during that Friday evening session.  These events are #1-4.

*Saturday and Sunday Prelims are for 9-18 year olds.  Saturday's events are #5-38.  Sunday's events are #61-98.

*If your swimmer is 8 or younger and they have event #39-60 on the entry report, they are swimming in the 8&Under session Saturday afternoon.  If your 8 or younger swimmer has any events between numbers 61-98, these are their Sunday events that will be swum in the 10&Under category.  These swims will be swum during the Sunday prelims session only, no Finals.

*All 10&Under events in the morning prelim sessions are timed final swims.  This means that they will only swim their events in the morning sessions of each day.  They will not return to Finals for any of their 10&Under swims.

*All 11-12, 13-14, and 15&Over events on Saturday and Sunday are Prelim/Final.  This means that everyone swims their event number in the morning (prelim) sessions and their results from their morning swim determines whether they come back to Finals sessions or not.  Here is the breakdown for Finals qualification:

Two heats (20 swimmers each gender) will return for finals for the 12&Us.
Two heats (20 swimmers each gender) will return for finals for 13-14 100s and 50.
Three heats (30 swimmers each gender) will return for finals for 15&O 100s and 50.
Three heats (30 swimmers each gender) will return for finals for the 13&O 200s

**If qualifying swimmers cannot return to the finals session, they MUST scratch within 30 minutes of the results being announced or face disqualification from the meet.  Please discuss these individual scenarios with your swimmer's primary coach!

Relays:

We auto entered a bunch of relays based off the number of athletes in each age group.  This did not account for the fact that 8&Under athletes were in their own session on Saturday.  Therefore, if you have an 8&Under swimmer who has a relay leg of events 7 or 8, your swimmer has a spot on the relay, but it is the first event of the prelims session.  This would mean that your swimmer would need to arrive for warm ups at 7:25am, race the relay at around 8:00am, and then have a lengthy break until their individual race session starts at 12:40pm.  Those who are willing to attend the relay on Saturday that their swimmer is entered in- GREAT!!  For those who cannot make that time gap work, please send Jordan an email stating that you won't be there for the relay so we can properly assign relay legs to as many present kids as possible.

This whole weirdness of it all is my fault, I had the wrong filter set when creating the relays and it didn't account for the 8&Under kids being in their own session on Sunday.

If your swimmer is entered in a relay with event number 63 or 64, that is the Sunday morning relay which theoretically means that your swimmer is entered in individual events that day anyways, so it won't be a burden to acquire present names during warm ups and get the relays squared away on this day.
