Air Force Academy swim meet info and REQUIRED ACTIONS NEEDED FOR ENTRY
PLEASE NOTE that there is a TON more information regarding this meet than any other meet we attend because of entry processes required to access the AFA. So read these next couple of sections very carefully because it highlights actions you MUST take before arriving at the meet:
- ANYONE over the age of 18 without a DOD ID must complete the form at this link https://visit.gvt.us/?b=usaf&i=united_states_air_force_academy&e=0M11GGBR to gain access to the USAFA. Please ensure the form is submitted at least 24 hours before your planned visit. Additionally, you must have a current photo ID to present at the gate.
- If a visitor is a non-US citizen, they will need to visit the pass office located at the South Gate and must bring their passport.
- As per USAFA rules, no coolers or camping chairs are permitted on the pool deck or in the spectator seating area.
If you complete the base access link but do not receive a text message confirming that you are “cleared,” you’ll need to go to the Pass and Registration Office at the South Gate to obtain a paper pass:

Heat Sheets, Timelines, and AFA Map have all been posted to our website for you to reference throughout the meet. Also, the Finals Heats Sheets will be posted on the meet page once prelims results have been processed. The link to access the meet page is
HERE.
Any event in the Heat Sheet that is not seeded into heats is a positive check-in event. The tables to check-in will be right through the doors swimmers will walk into to access the deck. More details below:
Important Notes:
- Chase starts will be used during prelims on Saturday and Sunday. Odd heats will start on the east side and even heats will start on the west side (turn end) of the pool. All 50's will start on the east side of the pool.
- Positive check-in is required for the 400 IM, 800 free, 1500 free, 400 free, ALL Saturday/Sunday prelim 200 events, and the 10&U 200 free on Sunday. Please make sure your swimmers check in as soon as they arrive at the natatorium.
- Athletes must provide two timers for the 400 IM, 800 free, 1500 free, and 400 free during prelims. Athletes may designate a counter for the 800 free and 1500 free.
- Flyover starts will be used for all timed final events during the Friday long-distance session, as well as for 10 & Under events in the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday PM sessions.
- The water polo pool will be available for warm-up/cool-down. We will not use the diving well.
With the running of chase starts and having two different timing crews during prelims, we have been given timing assignments in every session.
Instead of creating a sign up genius for timing shifts, and since we have a smaller crew attending this year, I have assigned timing shifts to attending Hurricane families. If something prevents you from completing the shift assigned to you, you need to find your own replacement.
